I have always thought that I was weaving, for YEARS, on my old Structo Artcraft Loom because of this metal plaque which is affixed to the front of the castle....Now, I've been inspired to look into the background and history of my sweet old friend and have found out that it might not BE a Structo at all!!!!! I'm in a discussion on Weavolution and could not get this photo to come up there, so I'm putting it here for viewing.
Let's see what transpires....I'm not getting upset....really I'm not....discovery is truly being alive, so I'll just live every moment of it! Many thanks to the people who are helping me in my search! I'm sending my thanks and Miles and Miles of Smiles, Cat B.
I have 9 floor looms upon which I weave scarves, stoles, blankets and yardage. Every inch of every single thread, both warp and weft, passes through my fingers in the creation of each fabric. Though I have been a weaver for over 40 active years, for the first time in September 2014, I have taken on 2 helpers to do some of the preparation work to leave me more time to weave. I use no computer assistance in the design or production of my cloth.
The Weaver's Dance
On a loom that whispers, with shuttles that fly
And bobbins that chatter as the hours go by
I'll not lay in one thread of mere chance
As I work in the motion of the weaver's dance.
Isn't the internet the best. I love this world-side instant communication. I was just chatting with a young friend in Kuwait who, hopefully, will be home next week. I love how close the makes the world. Good luck on your search.
ReplyDeleteYes, Sandra, The internet IS the best! It makes the world seem so small and we are all just as close as we want to be!
ReplyDeleteAND, I have good news just this morning...My sweet old loom IS a Structo Artcraft Loom and I have the expert to prove it! I am so thrilled and relieved to know that what was told to me so many years ago was true and correct.
